Big things are coming your way.
Proceed with Caution
You sail
Under the green light
Cruising at 35
Not another car in sight
As you drive away
The light flickers red in your rear view
But it is far too late for that

Polar Bears Won’t Be the Last to Die Because of Climate Change (But We Might Be)

I saw a video on Facebook about a polar bear eating a snowmobile seat to try and stave off starvation. The video then alerts the viewers that, spoiler alert, this polar bear died just hours after the video was shot.
Now, my spouse says I have a social media problem. I am inclined to agree with them. According to my phone (where I seek all answers), I spend 2-4 hours on Facebook a day. Of my 15-18 waking hours, that is impressive. And sad.

Baking With Kids and Other Extreme Sports
I am not known for participating in particularly dangerous tasks. That being said, I do regularly bake with a four-year-old, which is basically the same thing.

How to Be a Super Parent on Super Awful Mornings
The alarm goes off at 6 am. Even though you placed the alarm in a separate room so you’d actually get up to turn it off, you still press snooze.
You are up and down every 9 minutes until 7 am when you finally stop the alarm to go “rest your eyes.”
Spoiler alert: you were not resting your eyes.

My new spooky PJs bring me joy. I would hope so, given they were $30. The shirt is Halloween orange and contains an ode to The Nightmare Before Christmas, one of my favorite movies ever, with the quote “Nightmare Before Coffee.” The leggings are black, fuzzy on the inside, and covered in grey spider webs. I am ready for Halloween, y’all.
The most important details of that paragraph are as follows:
- My new PJs bring me joy, and
- They were $30.
The Art of Choosing to Love

Let me tell you about the moment that changed my relationship forever.
Flashback to 2016. It’s late, but my spouse (fiancé, at the time) had to drive by work to grab something. I was angry. I don’t know what about, but I was angry and depressed and angsty and curled up in the passenger seat, staring out the window and refusing to talk to Nik.
My cold shoulder, the first one I ever remember giving to them, lasted about five minutes.
I don’t remember how we got there, but I remember losing it on them as we pulled into the parking lot of their work. I snapped about them not understanding me, not taking care of me, not loving me… When they fired back at me, despite all the shitty things I had said, they were loving. Angry, yes, but loving all the same. They told me:
“Love isn’t easy. It doesn’t always happen naturally. There are going to be times where it would be so much easier not to love you. But every night and every morning, I am going to choose to love your stubborn ass, and that is what makes a relationship work.”
